I am running Windows 8.1 Pro on my Desktop (Gigabyte GA-X79S-UP5 motherboard). Acer Aspire One 722 Drivers Windows 10. In the device manager I have one device, Intel(R) Management Engine Interface (MEI) that has the exclamation mark against it: This device cannot start.
(Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE I've tried every known version of the Gigabyte Intel MEI driver to resolve this, all to no avail. I have even tried using a Beta BIOS (I was running F4, now trying F5F) to see if there was a way to fix this, or even to disable it in the BIOS, but no dice. During a Windows 10 Upgrade (I've tried 3 times now) it reports a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error, tries to recover a few times, gives up and rolls back to Windows 8.1. It's great that I have been left with a working system, but not so great that I can't seem to be able to upgrade to Windows 10. I mean, if Windows 8 doesn't care about MEI, why is Windows 10 so precious about it? Is there any way I can upgrade my machine to Windows 10? Don't have a solution but would like to add my experience with this - I have the Aorus X5 (also made by Gigabyte) and I have the exact same issue - trying to upgrade to Windows 10 multiple times, it will get to the second boot, spin dots for an hour, then bluescreen with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, and then rolling back to Windows 8.1 Device manager also shows Code 10 and I have tried a new BIOS and the beta BIOS.
